31/12/10
So, as it's the last day of 2010, I thought it was time for a proper journal entry at long last. I try and be in so many internet places at once, inevitably some fall by the wayside for months at a time. This time it was DevantArt. Oops. Maybe my new year's resolution should be to divide my time a bit better!
Well, I was about to recall recent events, but as this is my first journal entry on this account, I guess ALL events since I joined DA are 'recent'! I suppose I'll write about the most noteworthy things that happened in 2010.
Perhaps the biggest thing that happened this year is that I put a deposit on a 70 foot canal boat! Though before I pay the full amount, I need to organise a survey, (like an MOT for a boat; all boat buyers should have one done for peace of mind, and to ensure the boat doesn't sink a couple of miles down the canal!) but things have come to a standstill over the Winter. Everything seems to shut down from November to March. However, it has given me time to decide on whereabouts I want to live. I've decided I'd like to live on the Rochdale canal, between Manchester and Hebden Bridge.
I've been wondering if Khan will be ok on a boat, being a house cat. The boat's pretty roomy at 70 foot, so there's a chance we won't both go insane! And hopefully she'll continue to calm down as she gets older; I didn't think I could keep her with the way she was acting up until about 6 months ago.
I've also decided on a possible career; dog groomer.
An apprenticeship came up nearby recently, but I just missed the application closing date and was GUTTED. I surprised myself with how gutted I felt... like, sickly and stomach-knotty. Anyway, I looked into dog grooming courses, and found one in Manchester that looks amazing, and in the new year I might go for it! I don't know why I didn't think of it before... I can be creative, and pet dogs all day, AND get paid for it. Obviously I'd eventually work from home, or travel to people's houses; I don't think I'd set up a shop. Unless I am somehow amazing at it and can afford to train people and employ them to work in the shop while I carry on being a mobile dog groomer. But that's thinking long-term; something I fail at. But I'm determined to never again have a job that binds me to one place. It makes my soul die.
